Description
Handmade in Japan, each piece is hand-forged and sharpened using traditional Japanese methods. The traditional techniques inherited from the Edo period produce razor sharpness. Hidehisa shears are environmentally friendly — no chemicals have been used in coloring the steel handles.
The Hidehisa Okubo shears are designed for general garden use, ideal for pruning branches, roses, flowers, and houseplants.
After use, wipe off any dirt and plant matter and store it indoors to prevent rusting. Wiping with cutting oil (or sewing machine oil) will help protect the shears, particularly if you’re planning on storing them for an extended period of time. These shears are incredibly sharp, but if the blades require sharpening over time, have them professionally sharpened or use a whetstone sharpener.
Please note: Because of the handmade nature of this item, each tool will have variations and irregularities.

About Hidehisa by Toyama Hamono:
Manufactured by Toyama Hamono, a traditional shears manufacturer based in Sanjo, Japan — a town famous for the craft of blacksmithery since 1861. Their methods are based on the manufacturing methods of Katanas (Japanese swords) and have been hand-making secateurs and shears for almost 160 years. Toyama Hamono enjoys a reputation throughout Japan and the world for producing excellent gardening shears.
Using a thousand-year-old method of steel manufacturing called Tatara, and premium quality Hidehisa steel from Sanjo, skilled craftsmen polish the blades and create excellent scissors and shears that produce the finest cuts.
